Before choosing a home, identify accessible healthcare facilities and each household member’s cover. Compare policy terms as well as premiums.

Health insurance is mandatory in Dubai. Employers must cover their employees; sponsors must cover people they sponsor who do not have employer cover. Do not assume your spouse and children are included in your employment package: request written confirmation of beneficiaries and the start date.
Questions that make a difference
When comparing quotes, ask for the hospital and clinic network, annual limits, deductibles and co-payments. Clarify prior authorisations, direct billing or reimbursement after payment, and dental, optical and maternity benefits where relevant. Read waiting periods and exclusions in the actual policy; a marketing name is not enough.
Fit healthcare around daily life
Identify two or three facilities near your prospective home, then confirm that your specific policy includes them. Test journeys from home, work and school. If you travel regularly, ask separately about cover outside the UAE and repatriation. Keep certificates, assistance contacts and claims instructions together in an accessible folder.
Confirm your individual situation
Send coverage questions and medical information directly to the insurer or an authorised intermediary. For a dispute, first use the insurer’s complaints process; Sanadak publishes eligibility conditions for escalation. Our form concerns your housing search: it is not an insurance quote request and should contain no medical information.
A common question
Does my employer’s insurance cover my whole family?
Not automatically. Ask for the named beneficiaries and any costs for dependant cover.
